Some of the watch brands we repair include:
Omega

and many more.
Mechanical watches, which are powered by a mainspring and not a battery, require servicing every 5 to 10 years. This involves completely pulling the watch apart, cleaning it, replacing worn/ damaged components, reassembling then oiling. Finally the dial and hands are fitted along with new seals.
For the proper functioning and running of your watch it is highly recommended to follow these intervals.
WHY YOU SHOULD GET YOUR WATCH REPAIRED?
Prolonged Lifespan: A serviced watch can last for several decades, as proper maintenance will prevent the wear and tear of its components.
Improved Accuracy: Regular servicing of a watch helps in maintaining its accuracy by ensuring that all the internal components are working correctly.
Cost-effective: A small investment in regular servicing can help avoid the high cost of repairs caused by severe damage to a watch.
Preventative Maintenance: Regular servicing can detect issues early on before they turn into more significant problems that require more costly repairs.
Preservation of Value: Regular servicing can help maintain the value of a watch, especially if it's a vintage or high-end luxury piece.
Better Performance: Properly maintained watches perform better, and they are less prone to breakdowns, especially in critical situations.
Aesthetics: A serviced watch will look more attractive, especially if it has been polished and cleaned properly.
Peace of Mind: Knowing that your watch is in good working condition can give you peace of mind, especially if you rely on it daily.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE ISSUES THAT PRESENT THEMSELF OVER TIME IF A WATCH ISN’T REPAIRED REGULARLY?
Decreased Power Reserve: The power reserve of a watch refers to how long it can operate without being wound or charged. When a watch is not serviced, the lubricants in the movement can break down, causing the watch to lose power more quickly than it should.
Reduced Accuracy: Over time, the movement of a watch can become less accurate due to the accumulation of dust, dirt, and other debris. This can lead to the watch running too fast or too slow, which can be frustrating if you rely on it to keep track of time.
Increased Friction: The internal components of a watch are designed to move smoothly and freely. When a watch is not serviced, the lubricants can dry up, causing increased friction between the components. This can lead to wear and tear, which can affect the accuracy of the watch and cause damage to the movement.
Corrosion: Moisture and humidity can find their way into the watch's case and movement if it's not properly sealed. Over time, this can cause corrosion, which can damage the movement and affect the accuracy of the watch.
Damage to the Movement: A watch movement is made up of many delicate components that can become damaged if they are not properly maintained. For example, the balance wheel, which regulates the watch's timing, can become damaged if it is knocked out of alignment or if it's exposed to a shock.
Reduced Water Resistance: If a watch is not serviced regularly, the seals that keep water out of the case can dry up and become brittle. This can lead to a loss of water resistance, which can be dangerous if you wear your watch while swimming or diving.
CAN YOU CHECK IF THE WATCH NEEDS SERVICING?
Simply, yes we can.
When you come in we can place your watch onto our timing machine. It will tell us how much time it is gaining or losing, the beat error and the amplitude.
The rate and amplitude are critical in identifying the condition of the watch.
We look for any signs of water ingress on the dial and hands
Any external damage like deep scratches or dints
We inspect the movement for wear and any signs of issues.
At OBR Horology we repair all types of mechanical watches and we offer a no obligation quote, reach out to us today to organise.
