First Week

Watch Repair 1.0

Just last week I officially started my own watch repair business in Adelaide. Whenever starting a new venture there is always a mixture of feelings and emotions. Not everything goes to plan but really what ever does.

What will I be offering?

I will be offering watch repairs for the Adelaide region and interstate. Currently I do a mixture of trade work and work for the public. I have a passion for repairing mechanical watches….. But that’s not to say I don’t repair battery operated watches.

Having worked on thousands of watches over my career I feel confident to offer a high quality watch repair service in Adelaide. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me at repairs@obrhorology.com.au

With this new venture of mine I have also decided to broaden my scope and learn clockmaking, a.k.a clock repair under the guidance of Darrell Kaeslar in Tununda. Having little to no knowledge of clocks….. since I’ve only ever focused on watches, I hope to broaden my knowledge and scope. With no one coming up in the trade wanting to learn clocks a massive hole in the market will be left in years to come if no one is to fill it. I hope to provide a quality service with Darrell as he has done for decades and continue repairing clocks with him into the future helping customers with their timepieces.

I finished my first clock last week under his guidance. It presented with a range of problems including: worn pivots and bushes, bent wheel, rust and some damage from previous repairs. All in all it was a great first job that has come together nicely.
