Seiko 6138 Chronograph repair

Seiko 6138 Chronograph Repair

This Seiko Chronograph 6138 came in for a big restoration recently. It had numerous problems and needed a lot of TLC. The Seiko 6138 is a brilliant movement, as it just keeps going and going but unfortunately this is also its downfall. Because of this durability by the time the average owner gets it serviced it is insanely worn requiring numerous parts and a lot of work.

As you can see in Pictures 3 and 4 there is an excessive amount of grease. Lurking underneath some of these parts is a lot of rust. Which affects the operation of the chronograph.

I replaced the plexi, pusher springs, all the seals and numerous internal components. I also jeweled the barrel bridge because of the wear. As you can see in the first two photos below a new glass makes all the difference.
