Week 22 - Longines Chronograph Watch Repair

Recently I completed a repair on a Longines Automatic chronograph. This one was a variation on the eta 7750. The difference being that this one has the moon phase and month, and the orientation of the day and date is different.

What I thought would be a relatively straight forward service turned out to be a little more complex. This Longines needed some new parts, including: new seals, reversing wheel, mainspring, rotor bearing and reduction wheel. All these parts play a vital role in the automatic winding of the watch.

I pride myself on doing small things that other watchmakers might not necessarily do but when they come together make a big difference. Some of these things are:

  1. Finish the watch in the same condition or even better than when it first came in

  2. Don't be stingy with parts and think it will be alright; replace it!

  3. Take and precautions to reduce any risk of damage

  4. Treat the watch as if it is my own

  5. Test the watch and check it's performance.

When I service a watch, every part is taken off, cleaned, then meticulously reassembled.

This is another example of the attention to detail and quality watch repair I provide out of my Adelaide-based watch and clock repair workshop. I provide a two year warranty on all full service and seal kits, which is above industry standard - one of only two workshops in South Australia offering this.

If you have any questions about getting a watch serviced or restored, whether it be a manual wind, automatic, chronograph or a quartz (battery operated), please don't hesitate to contact me on 0423451991 or email me at repairs@obrhorology.com.au.
