How much does it cost to repair an Omega Speedmaster?
I often get asked the question, “how much does it cost to repair an Omega Speedmaster?” At OBR Horology we often see Omega Speedmaster watches come in for repairs. During an Omega Speedmaster service I disassemble the watch completely by removing the movement from the case and disassembling the movement. If any repairs required involve further cost I consult the watches owner for permission to go ahead with the repair. Once any repairs are done, I thoroughly clean the watch, lubricate it and reassemble it for timing and pressure testing.
The Omega Speedmaster is arguably the first mainstream chronograph and a watch that has stood the test of time. Originally the Speedmaster was released back in 1957 as a chronograph for motorsports, positioned alongside the Seamaster. The racing intention meant integrating a tachymeter into the watch; this was the first watch to feature a tachymeter placed on the bezel, freeing up the dial. The overall layout of the Speedmaster has remained similar to the initial watch released in 1957; with three sub-dials, 2 pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock and the aforementioned black tachymeter on the bezel.
At OBR Horology we repair all Omega Speedmaster watches. We have a parts account with Omega. An Omega Speedmaster service begins at $1100 AUD at OBR Horology. All servicing performed at OBR Horology comes with a 2 year warranty.
